My Bubble Coral had a small carribean mushroom on the same rock beneath it. All was fine til about a week ago when I noticed the mushroom was open on one side and shriveled on the other. I'm sure the Bubble was stinging it so I broke the rock in 1/2. Almost 1/2 of the mushroom is dark on the underside, then from the mouth on it's healthy.
What I want to know is am I going to loose the mushroom? If so how can I avoid loosing it? This is the only mushroom of this type I have and I'd REALLY hate to loose it. Could I slice the bad part of and better it's chances for survival?

Mushrooms can be fragged by cutting down the middle with a very sharp razor blade or x-acto knife. Just be sure to get at least half of the mouth in the cut or cut the burned tissue away, be sure to get to healthy tissue so the mushroom survives.

On average a bubble coral has sweeper tentacles in excess of 3 inches...placing anything closer than that to a bubble is asking for trouble. You can spot feed your bubble and it will lessen the active sweeper extension, but it's no guarantee. You will see it grow much better if fed. Good luck.
