Glad to see that the live rock had some interesting things in it. In a short time you should start seeing the pod population start to bloom. Remember the shrimp we talked about and then just be patient for a couple weeks and we will see where you are then. You are getting off to a good start.

Thanks again for all the comments, here are some more pictures of the tanks progress. I took a trip to NSA today and got a Remora Pro Skimmer, also another piece of live rock and a pepperment shrimp.

Here are some updated pictures of the tank. I added a black background to flush in the equitment on the back of the tank. I also took off my marineland filter, moved over the skimmer and added a small filter for water flow.

  7. Progressing nicely, looking clean ! Thanks for taking the time to share the pics with the forum !!!

Thanks. Im looking forward to seeing the tanks we may be able to come over sometime soon after Christmas. We do need to raise the rock up a little its kinda hard to find ways to stack the style rock we have they all seem to have a bottom to them and dont stack all that well.

I may have some rock in the near future that will be better to aquascape with. It will be after the first of the year, that is if you don't already aquire some before then. You have a good start to your first tank glad to see someone as young as you with an interest in the hobby. Keep up the good work.

Looking very nice!!! There seems to be alot of micro bubbles, or is that just the picture??

In the picture it does look like there are more micro bubbles than I really have, but I need to get a powerhead soon to move the water instead of using the little filter its making all the bubbles when hitting the water.

Back from vacation and everything looks good in the tank. Corals have really opended up and seem to be doing good. Id like to get new lighting asap though. Right now there still under the floresent light, but ill be getting T-5s. Im thinking 4 bulbs rated around 96 watts will be good. What brand would you recommend for the T-5 lighting? Id like to spend less than $200 if possible.

    Thanks-Robby

JBJ make a Metal Halide clamp on fixture called the viper. The 150 watt runs about 230.00 at marinedepot.com. I will tell you from personal experience and tons of money upgrading light after light. I have had PC's, VHO's, and T5's. I finaly have a Metal Halide and VHO fixture. Metal Halides are by far my favorite choice for lighting. The shimmer effect is absolutely beautiful and even hypnotising at times. Go ahead and spring for as much as you can afford. It will save you money in the longrun. There are big fans of both T5's and MH here. Fishermann can give tons of advise on T5 lighting. PM him tell your ideas and he will provide you with lots of info. Give your tank deminsions especially length and depth. Tank is looking really nice. We are all proud to have such a young man getting involved with our hobby. Good luck and remember to patient and when you think you waited long enough to add something else waite a little longer.

Thanks for the advice I ordered a T5 light today even that was really more than I could afford at the time. but hopefully it will do the job and I can always upgrade later kinda need a job first though haha.
