Hey, I have a couple of false Perc clowns and they are starting to develop some brown spots. After having done some research on wetwebmedia the indication is just some sort of temporary pigment thing going on, maybe some type of dietary problem. I feed mostly Omega One Flake with Garlic, about once a day. Every couple of days they get some Cyclopeze. Maybe once a week or so they get some frozen PE Mysis shrimp. Does this sound like a decent diet for them? What else should I be giving them? Seems funny too that they both started getting it about the same time. And I did recently add a little Zooanthid colony. One person thought they might be rubbing against them and getting stung a bit. Thanks, James
I just feed as much variety as I can. Probably more mysis shrimp then anything else, but I have 8 different types of food and pretty much rotate through them. My clownfish will eat anything.
We give ours brine shrimp, frozen mega marine, nutrafin flakes and shrimp(chopped fine). We rotate them.
I feed a varied mixture, but if you give clowns anything big enough to carry around they will just feed it to their host. Guess it serves a dual purpose. It's fun to watch anyway.
Probably the funniest thing I ever saw was my clown and six-line peacefully battle over a sinking pellet that was too big for both of them. The clown kept placing it on top of the toadstool (i.e. anemone) and the six-line would then swoop in and move it to a rock a foot away. The clown would then put it back and the cycle would continue. Probably went on about 10 times. Thankfully they get along and didn't truly fight over it.
