LED's, lots of em. I don't get how they can equal the intensity but I'd like to try and see it, this is really cool.

So who's gonna front the $800-2000 price for me? LOL

I saw these (or similar) on display at MACNA. There's practically no heat and they can be programmed to simulate sunrise/sunset and even cloudy days. A lot of discussion is still going on about the quality of light produced but this is the wave of the future.

yeah but that is still a hefty price to pay. but also one good thing about LED's are they are cheap to power so i guess in the long run it would be worth it.

PFO claims a 40% electricity reduction, less air conditioning/chilling, the LEDs last for 50,000 hours (11 years?) and it has a two-year warranty. Amortized over 11 years, it is probably a lot cheaper.

To me the color change ability is the really cool part. You can change a hood on the fly to be 10K or 11k or 12k...so you can dial in that perfect look you are always looking for.

Those wouid be neat to try. I'm courious about how the light's hold up to the MH tho. Have the light's been compared in coral growth, etc?

Most of the people that have commented on them.... those that have used them and seen them say they look more like a 20K bulb
