can this sting this? At first I thought they were both frogspawn. And maybe they are... But one has branching polyps and the polyps on the other do not branch.

How can I tell if this is happening?
And if they both appear open and happy should I just assume all is well?
    Thanks

Please excuse my basic question, I'm still a newbie

Looks like a hammer, most of the time they won't hurt each other, but if one starts to receed or not open as much move them apart.

Actually I would probably move them apart anyway to allow for growing room.

  3. I am going to have to disagree with skrillnet about the need to separate the corals. Both are a sub species of cataphilia and should do fine together. Now overgrowth of any coral over another will cause some death of the part of the overgrown coral due to lack of light. You will see this in your cataphilia's that branch. As they get bigger the polyps underneath will slowly die off as new coral shadows it from light. cataphilia's do produce long tentacles that sting but you will find that some corals like Zenya grow just fine around them. I guess it comes down to preference. I like stands of a particular species rather than a lone coral, you may like the opposite and want to spread your corals out.

My suggestion was more for aesthetic reasons. I like my tank to have a little breathing room.
