2011 Memphis frag swap

Just got the new info on the Memphis frag swap. The info is at www.wtmrac.com. Looks like Oct 1 is the date to plan for. I will have a table and plan to pull my trailer and have room for 6 people. Lets make a good showing for this one and if the club is planning on going to one large event a year this would be a good one to go visit and see how to do this. Pass the info on and lets make some plans.

 

I think I want to go this year. I heard about all the deals last year and I want in.

I have 1 spot left, possibly 3 if I put the 3rd seat down. Anyone wanting to go for shared expenses just let me know. Will be leaving Conway about 5:30 to get to Memphis in time to set up for the frag swap. We should have a good showing this year as usual.

Memphis was fun, not as many vendors as last year but I still managed to find numerous zoa's and SPS that I could not live without. I hope it was successful for them from the opening comments it sounded like it might have been a struggle.

 

The frag swap was great finally got coral that was recently unavailable. But unfortunately we walk out to my wifes new car to find it has been hit.

I had a great time at the Memphis Frag Swap. The croud was a little light, but everyone was friendly and the other vendors had lots of quality frags to choose from. I would like to thank Cory and Calvin for all the help going to this event. I think many of the other members of the club would enjoy an event like this one. With the way RRMAS puts on an event I see no reason we couldn't have a very successful Frag Swap in 2012.

Norman, I think you are right; since you and Calvin equaled at least 10% of the vendors and in all actuality one of the RRMS fragfest equal or exceeds what I saw yesterday. I am not knocking Memphis, this is the second year I have gone and enjoyed both events. But actully it's just one of our fragfest plus vendors at a public forum.

I had a blast too! It was fun for a first event as a vendor for me. One thing for sure, there were a LOT of new people in the hobby. At least 15 people I talked to didn't have a tank yet, or were in the process of cycling their first. 

If we can just take a vote on it, I think we should do an event like that either in Conway or Little Rock. Renting a venue can't be that bad, and like Greg said, the only real differences were the vendors and the food. Which would be a fantastic way for the club to put on the event and make a little dough too. I will even throw my name out there as an organizer, if there are enough people behind it.

Another thing I thought was FANTASTIC about the event was the admission fee. $4. There really isn't much else to say about it. That is affordable to EVERYBODY, and I think will really increase attendance at our events. I have numerous ideas for us to reduce our cost to put on events too, if we want to go into it, but I think we should put one on before  next summer.

I definitely think we should do a frag swap sometime before MACNA2012. We can get our local stores and reef members involved s and I'm sure our fragaholics will be there as well. My question is where could we have this swap.

On an interesting note I saw a coral that id never seen in person only in a book. Pachyseris rugosa.
