Ok guys. I'm making this thread for me to be able to compare my frags growth and color over time. For the record, I'm running a BC 29 gallon. Equipment includes a 150W Sunpod with 6 LED moonlights, a tunze 9002 skimmer, and an aquahub ATO kit. The tank has been running almost 3 months, and currently has 30 lbs of live rock, 2 cleaner shrimp, about 10 snails, 2 scarlet hermits, and 15 various coral frags. About the photography, pictures from 4-19-2009 and 5-9-2009 were taken with a 5.1 megapixel point and shoot. Pictures taken on 6-1-2009 were taken with a 8.0 megapixel point and shoot with a MUCH better white balance. Shots from April were taken under a stock sunpod 14K bulb, while shots from May and June were taken under a Radium 20K bulb. You can see how much better the white balance is on the newer 8.0 megapixel camera from the June pictures compared with the ones from May. I'm not good with the cameras yet, and though my white balance got better with time, my focus didn't always follow the same trend... My first Acanthastrea lordhowensis, purchased with Vicki and Cam and fragged at frag fest: 4/19/2009 6/1/2009 2/25/2010 Red and Blue Acan lord from Coral from SEASL coral conference (STL): 5/9/2009 6/1/2009 Frogspawn from Frag Fest: 4/19/2009 6/1/2009 2/25/2010 - This actually has gone from one to 5 heads, and then I tried to frag it about a month ago, and it broke down to 2 heads due to my rookie fragging mistake. Anyway, the clown sure seems to like it! Lime Green Ricordea Yuma from SEASL ($10): 5/9/2009 6/1/2009 ORA Green Millepora from SEASL (won playing Coral BINGO): 5/9/2009 6/1/2009 Pink Palythoa from SEASL: 5/9/2009 6/1/2009 2/25/2010 - Bottom left corner Purple Zoanthid with Pink and Yellow Center from SEASL: 5/9/2009 6/1/2009 Red Chalice from Frag Fest, notice the growth over the edges: 4/19/2009 5/9/2009 6/1/2009 2/25/2010 Thanks for looking. I plan on attempting to update the thread, and add corals as I go along.
Thanks Vicki! Cam pm'ed me not too long ago and told me that both his and yours (acans) were doing well also. Mine has two babies that are getting larger every day. I believe that they have lost some color, which is weird bc every single other thing in the tank has gotten brighter under my 20K's. I've been contemplating trying that particular coral in a bit more shade. What kind of light is yours getting?
mine are under my t5's. they are actually pretty high up but the section they are in they have indirect light so they dont get nuked. I have been feeding mine a couple times a week.
Ok, here is an update on the first Acan frag that I got back in April: 4/19/2009 - 6/1/2009 - 11/5/2009 - Ok Vicki and Cam. Let's see how yours are doing... I'm planning on doing a couple more shots of growth in this and updating my main thread as well. Thanks for looking.
Thanks guys. I really work hard on this thing, and put a lot of love into 29 gallons, but there is always something going on that could be better. I guess that's the fun of the hobby.
I posted a few updates of growth. I need to do some more, my green millepora is roughly 30X larger now...
Ben, What the great job on the coral frags! The Acan is lovely. I need to learn how to frag. I have supplies. Learned that you can't really glue mushrooms! :^( I also have a Shrimp Goby in my 29 Biocube. Love love him! Your colorful pics have inspired me! Thanks for sharing! Sharla

Thanks for resurrecting this thread. Here are a few updates. Here is the red chalice from 2/25/20: And again on 8-12-10: Here is my Miami Hurricane/Pumpkin Patch chalice from 4/13/10: And today (8-12-10): And the fastest grower in the tank, my green Millepora: Almost a year ago on 6-1-09: And again on 8-12-10:
Ben your doing a excellent job with that tank. Let me know when your ready to frag some of those corals, just joking. Nice looking growth.
No Joke about the fragging Grimmet. I'm going to have to cut up that green Millepora before too long. If everything else in there grew 1/2 as fast as that Mille, I'd be thrilled. Thanks for the compliment.
