I recieved some Sacro in the mail Sat. It looks real good except a black spot on one of them. Will this heal and it be ok? If not what can I do to help it?

    Thank you!
Actually they are doing a lot better since I last posted this. The spot's are getting smaller and the sacro has pulled itself upright. I suspect they were damaged in shipping. The end of the box was crushed but no water leakage. Also both rocks were shipped in the same bag.

  4. Sarcophyton are very forgiving with pruning them back for whatever reason. I am glad to hear that yours is doing better without any intervention, which is always the hope. But should you have the need in the future do not hesitate to take a razor blade to the necrosing areas. It is really hard mentally the first time that you do it, but Sarcophton's are one of the best species to start your propagation efforts on. I recently developed some kind of infection on a yellow Sarco and after the continued spreading over three days took a pair of scissors to it. It has been non the worse for wear and is doing fine now - though a little less shaply. Twice in the past two years we have cut up Sarcophytons at our meeting to demonstrate propagating techniques - I wish you were at our last one in Hot Springs several months ago because Jim Griffin ended up keeping most of the frags b/c everyone already had them.

I wish I had been there too, I need to learn but I cringe when I think of cutting them. Do they reproduce quickly? I know my red mushrooms are gettng out of control!
