Big day today. After searching for over two years I've finally found a Red Tail Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus rubricaudalis). He will arrive in a little while from DD. Also got a yellow fin flasher, a dot & dash flasher, a small colony of Blue Tubbs zoas, 6 polyps of Cornbread Nuclear death zoas, and a couple of cyphastreas I'm going to glue on the overflow. I'll be dippin' and acclimating all morning. Hopefully everyone arrives happy and healthy. Pics when eveyone get's settled in.
I wasn't really looking for them just came across a good deal, probably 25-30 polyps. Also got a sweet Blueberry Ric too, you would love it John. A little hacked at Blue Zoo. The Yellow Fin flasher they sent is stunning but the Dot & Dash flasher isn't even a male much less an adult male. It's either a female or just beggining to change to male. The Red Tail is nicer than the DD picture showed.
A couple of the flashers were feeling frisky tonight. Really hard to catch them flashing, even with video. Got a couple of the Yellow fin and some video of him and the Red tail
They almost look electric as they are swimming. You've about got me sold on a wrasse, but I don't think they can be housed with a mandarin? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Flasher wrasse are fine with a mandarin. They only eat from the water column and not big pod eaters. Fairy wrasse also fit that description. The wrasses that you want to avoid with dragonets are Haliocheres wrasse (yellow coris, melanurus, red line wrasse, Vrolik's, etc.) and Leopard wrasse. Those fish will eat frozen foods but they constantly hunt and eat pods. They will decimate the pod population. The really do look like they are "lit up" when they flash. If you want them to flash a lot you need at least two males of different species.
