I just did a 20 gallon water change on my 75 gallon tank with a 33 gallon sump. After the water change my LPS corals and carpet ananome shrivled up. The leather corals, pumping xenia and zoes ar doing great so I am not sure what type of chemical balance is out of wack. I used test strips to test the major stuff and all looked fine. The salinety looks like it dropped a little but that is he only change I noticed. Any help to get them back healthy again would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ben

Was your water temp in your new water the same as in the tank? This can cause problems if not.

Just a few ideas and questions.
Did you areate the water for at least 24 hours before the change?
    Have you changed salt mixes?
as Marti asked, did you have the temp. the same as the tank water?
Sounds like maybe the SG was a bit lower in the mix.
Any changes could have caused the corals to react and probably will adjust out and the water cerculates and the corals adjust.
Have you noticed a change in PH when you did the water change?

  4. My first thought is that there is nothing wrong at all. An example: the club meeting is at my house this weekend and I did a 10% water change on the 125 today and the 300 central sump tomorrow so that everything will be back to looking normal by the meeting on Saturday. It usually takes my corals about a day - full light cycle - to come back out. You can think of a water change as a storm on a reef everybody wants to take shelter.
