I was aked about my denitrate reactor by several people while they were at the meeting. Here is a link to the instructions I followed on how to make one. Hope this helps. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2009-01/diy/index.php For the top of the unit it is easier to use a threaded sewage clean out. Most people cannot route a top like pictures in the above link.
Here is a very inexpensive trim router. I use the same one to route the edges of plywood I use on top of stands and when I do acrylic work. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=44914 Head over to Home Depot and get on of these and you will be good: http://www.homedepot.com/Tools-Hard...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 The router bit I listed is just an example, if you can find a cheaper one more power to you!
Good tool. I still prefer the threaded clean out trap fitting. I never have to worry about rust or anything. With the flange showed in the link you have to make/router to identical pieces and then drill and tap several holes. The one I used is so much easier.
Yeah, the clean out is easier. How often do you have to open these things? I don't like the idea of having to reseal the clean out all the time. I personally haven't done a hole lot of reading on them (I know shame on me).
