I am new to saltwater about 3 months and was wanting to try some corals. I have a 96 watt PC on a 40 gallon tank. Sould I upgrade my light or are thier some beginner corals that would survive under this light.

Many softies will survive fine under pc light such as mushrooms leathers ect..
As far as lps ans sps - stony corals I would suggest you upgrade your lights
to keep them happy. With T5 HO's or metal halides.

  3. Her is a great chart that was several threads down from this one that is a good place to start with research. http://www2.razorbackreef.com/old/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1304 Zoos, mushrooms, and some of the lps corals would be a good choice. Stylophora is a very hardy coral, in fact it is the only frag that you can not donate to the prize pool when the Oklahoma Club has there CRASE event because it grows just about anywhere as do green mushrooms that I torched recently. You also might want to hit up Fisher12 for some of his brown star polyps that have haven't seen a place where they will not grow. Keep us posted on what you decide on.

Hey guys just wanted to let you know Fisher12 donated a rock with some Brown Star Polyps. THANK YOU FISHER12. I recently won a 192 watt JBJ PC light on ebay. Got it for 38.00 plus shipping. Not bad if you ask me. I am wanting to go with some leathers also. My LFS in Hot Springs is a little inflated on priceing.

I have some green palythoas that have exploded in my tank (thanks beanhead). You are welcome to some if you want. They are pretty hard to kill without a blowtorch [IMG].
