you might want to be careful with mixing a puffer with any sort of trigger because of the triggers territorial aggression it would not suit a tank with a puffer a triggers aggression against a puffer  may cause it to puff witch then in turn causes stress making a puffer an ick nightmare to deal with a puffer that puffs is going to have a lot of unnecessary stresses I would put it with tank mates that are peaceful yet large enough not to become a meal like a nice bristle toothed tang like a kole.
Thanks for the help, triggers are not a must have fish. The only fish that I am almost positive about is the puffer. My wife likes the puffer and I would like to have one for her to enjoy. The rest of the tank is up in the air as I just want some nice looking fish we all can enjoy...
After a lot of reading and researching and talking to Norman and others I have decided to shy away from a predator tank, not that I wouldn’t like one but due to the extreme bioload they pose on a tank.  I think I am going to stick with fish you don’t normally see in a reef tank.  Still number one on the list is a Porcupine Puffer for my wife. I am thinking about looking at non reef safe Butterflyfish, Dwarf Angelfish, and then Cardinal fish, Foxface, Goby, and a Tang.  My question is what fish I can go with several in the same species. Like Butterfly’s, can I have a Vagabond and a Saddleback in the same tank together. I assume you can only have one angle, was looking at the Coral Beauty or a Half Black Angelfish. Wanted to know how the Cardinals do in groups, I like the Bangui and Pajama cardinals.  Also wanted to know if a Sand sifting goby like a Orangemarked Goby would be safe to add in the mix?  My tang choice is still up in the air, I still like the Powder Brown but I know it’s prone to marine ich. My other choices would be a Naso Blonde Tang, Orangeshoulder Tang, or Two Spot Bristletooth Tang
