I have one but it isn't the peacock color it is red. Very interesting invertabrate. If your son wants one bad enough I would be willing to give it to him. But be advised you do need a separate tank for him.
Thanks thats realy nice, My son said he would love to have it. And it would let me set up a tank for him. I have a extra 10Gal system (I will have to come up with some LR, I have sand), and would that be big enugh fot a Mantis shrimp.
I have some live rock I will give him for his shrimp tank. Also make him aware that you never put your hands in that tank. I had mine hit me through a net and I don't want that again !!! Mine was a clubber, I would hate to get hit by a spearer. Have him do some reading on the different species and he should enjoy these shrimp for a long time.
