How often has anyone bought  a coral you thought was a one color and when it colored back up it turned into an entirely different color? I have a playing monty that has been in my tank for 9 months that was given to me that was peach and now it is bright purple. In the last three days it has completely changed colors. It looks really great and the only thing that I have changed was the brand of calcium I am using. I recently switched to seachem from three part ecosystem.

You cant ever depend on a stony being a certian color.... They always change depending on the tank... If you change anything from where they where to start with they will change...... One of the fun things that comes with them.

Another reason not to go buying the "OMG its a Super Rare Color. Buy it NOW!!" Schemes... Once you get them home you have about half a chance they will stay that color.  This is also true for zoas and others....

The way our coral tank lights are set up if I put something in the middle bellow the halides its one color and by moving it to the edge where the actinic t5's are its sometimes a completely different color.  Most of the time If I buy an acro frag and put it in my five gallon tank its completley diffent from when I bought it.
