i had a pair of black osc and a pair of orange osc in my tank for a while now. well last week the largest of each pair decided they wanted a divorce and got together in an oddball pair. so now i have a spawning pair of orange and black osc. they are almost the same size and laid a clutch off eggs on the back silicone seam a few days ago. i have pics but havent uploaded them yet. just thought i would share. i do not have a phyto station set up so this batch will not survive even if they do hatch out. but i plan on getting every thing set up for next round if they do and i guess i will try my hand at clownfish breeding for the heck of it.
what color are the eggs i have two clowns that are for sure a pair and would like to now what to look for
still whitish/creamy color right now. in my freshwater experience they would be an amber color if they were fertile. i think one hatched last night for sure before lights out. and i didnt check this morning so they may have all hatched out.
well they spawned again today and this time they are viable i believe. a nice creamy orange color and appears to be around 50 or so. i guess i am going to have to get a phyto culture station started asap and some rods started to somewhere to see how my luck goes with raising some little ones
I have a friend on RS that his clownfish pair spawn & lay eggs every 10 to 12 days & have been doing this for over a year. In the same spot on the glass... one always guards while the other goes to eat too.
That is so cool! How funny that they seperated & went to different mates! I didn't know they would do that. Hmmm..I learn something everyday on here. Well..I'll kinda know what to look for now if mine do. Cute/odd couple!! haha Jen
