I have a newly set up 34 gallon nano tank. I was wondering what are some good fish to put in it? I really would like more movement in my tank, so I'd like something colorful yet moblie. I have room for 3 (maybe 4) fish all together. I have one small clown goby. My wife has already said there must be a Nemo (but what she doesn't know is there are all types of Nemos) I am thinking of getting a black ocellaris clownfish. Anyone have any experience with them? It seems that a lot of fish suitable for the nano tanks prefer to hide out in the rock work. Its not as much fun showing off your tank if you have to hunt its inhabitants. Let me know what you guys/gals think.

i have a black clown. He seems happy. He doesn't like me in the tank very much.

There are several tank-raised species that would work well in a small tank. ORA has some good examples:

Our LFSs carry ORA fish at various times.

  4. I purchased a 1 gallon Red Sea micro nano from premium pets that getting rid of their fish supplies (it is pink). I have thoughts of putting one of those chiller evaporators and a heater on it to keep catalina gobies that need temperatures in the upper 60's. I will try something different with the nano that I am going to win at Reef Fest[IMG]

I have several pairs of clowns and my black pair (Bonnie and Clyde) are my favorites. They stay out in the open unlike my pink skunk clowns. You would be safe with many different types of gobies too. most websites have a specific section set aside for nano fish or something to that effect. I haven't restocked my nano yet but I still would like to get these when I get it up and running. I have no personal experience with them but they stay small. I wouldn't recommend the first one for you just yet because they are said to be difficult but it just goes to show you can get some really cool stuff for any size tank[IMG]

How long has your tank been setup? A skunk cleaner shrimp is great too.

    Grow out a bigger fish

I got a very small chromis in a shipment and purchased a 3-gallon pico for the little guy. He came in at maybe 1/3 inch. He lives in the tank with a few ricordias, two small snails, and a small (but rapidly growing) peppermint shrimp. He and the shrimp fight over food, it's very amusing.

I think the fish is now about 3/4" long and I'll have to move him soon.

Firefish gets my vote. I have a purple one - looooove it! Pretty showy little critter.

Same deal for me. Getting a 34g and fiance said I have to have a clown. I was wondering you guys thoughts on keeping a flame angel in a 34g cube. Lots of color and movement.

We have a 24 gallon Aqua-Pod with two black clowns, one small yellow tang, a scooter blenny, and a two color fish of some sort. I will have to look up its name. We also have two large anemones in it.
My wife changes water out every three or four days. We run a CPR back pack skimmer on it also a hang on back cartridge filter. 3 power heads internally as well.
