I'm in the process of building a Bean Animal Calfo style over flow for my 40 breeder system. I have almost all the parts Diamond 1.75" bit, 1" bulkheads ordered, all the PVC according to this post. except union shut off valve combo i will be using the unions separate from the shut off and only one shut off to adjust the flow in the middle drain that will run the full siphon.
    PICS below from BeanAnimal.com
I do however need some advice on placement of holes, (how far from top of tank and how far apart from each other) also on the Calfo style over flow ( How tall and wide should the glass be and how far from the top of the tank so water line, when running will be hidden by the trim.
Also what kind of silicone should be used to affix the glass over flow to the tank? Thanks in advance for the help.

I helped sdfbeanhead years ago set up a Calfo overflow on Marti Running tank and it did great as far as I know over the long term. I remember that there were 4 drilled holes in her 115gallon spaced evenly horizontally across the tank. I do not remember how he determined the vertical level. The overflow was made of glass so we used silicone, not sure what you could use if you are doing plastic to glass. I would love to see some pictures when you get started on the process.

The glass shop I town cut the glass for the over flow for me but when I went to pick it up they said there sander had gone out.  The glass was not even so I did not get it. I found a corner overflow at NSA so Im going with two over flows on the corner, on with a Hofer Gurgle buster.
