I purchased an Oragne Scoly from Northside about a month ago. Vanessa told me not to be surprised if when he got to my tankis color dimmed a little until he adjusted. He appears to be somewhat happy, he has grown, looks great with night lights but his orange is no longer bright orange under white light. He is on the bottom of the tank at about 22" deep with pretty good flow around him. He seems to eat when I spot feed the others, so not sure what is going on. Like I said he looks healthy just not the bright orange he was at Northside. LED lights, total of 96 watts for 75 gallon tank. Could it just be placement, diet, lights, or a combination of all the above. During the day he is more of a tan than orange. Any thoughts, appreciated..

    Hiya,

It could be the light he's under. I got some blue zoa's at the last event and in my tank they're red. Granted, they were under LED's there and T-5's in my tank.

Interesting Kim. I ordered another light strip to add to my tank so I'm going to see if that makes any difference. All in all I am super pleased with the way my tank is looking and thankful it seems to be healthy. Just struggling with that 4 months of experience thing compared to those of you with years of experience. I tried keeping salt water fish only 25 years ago and found I did not have the patience or the pocketbook for it. A little calmer these days..... if I could just get that 5 year tank look in 6 months.....hahaha. I'll keep ya posted as things progress. I have made and amazing quality video I'd like to share but it needs to be edited down to fit on the website. Have a great Thanksgiving to one and all!

I have zero experience with scoly's but many corals will lose color when stressed by a move. SPS are particularly prone to do that but I'm sure LPS can too. Just keep your parameters as stable as possible and I'd bet it eventually regains it's color. Keep on keepin' on.
