pairing clowns

    i moved my pair of clowns and a green bta to my 72 last night well walking by my tank just now (12:30pm) i found the bigger one on the carpet [​IMG] so i was wondering if i buy another one will they pair? they are small around an inch long? please help my kids and i are sad

    The way clownfish work is the largest most dominant is the female, call her DF. The second most dominant fish becomes the breeding male, BM (lol). All the rest are asexual juveniles.

    Now in the event that DF dies, BM takes her place as the DF and the next in line becomes the breeding male. So if you were to add another clownfish, they could and should pair up as long as they don't kill each other first. Being small, they will likely pair up.
