Lysmata wurdemanni Safari Pets in Jacksonville has them for $6. They've got about 8 or so left. They fair pretty well against aiptasia.
I was wondering if anyone has mixed different shrimp together. I have kept several shrimp over the years but never two different species at the same time. It just hadn't occured to me. I have a candy cane in my clam tank and would love to add some more of a different species. What does everyone think.
I kept a large cleaner and a small peppermint shrimp in my 135 for about a year. The cleaner stayed out during the day and perched himself up high at night while the peppermint was out.
Here's an article on shrimp: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ca/cav1i2/fatheree shrimps/james_w.htm and some good FAQs: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/shrimpcompfaqs.htm
I've kept camelback, cleaner, peppermint, and coral banded at the same time. CBS need a lot of space and are very territorial. Camelback will eat polyps if they get bored. But other than the CBS moving out on the prowl and attacking anything and everything, I didn't have any shrimp conflicts.
