Sam, Norman and I have done quite a bit of testing of live video streaming at the request of the membership from the last meeting in Searcy so that we can bring our meetings to the entire state. We used the iphone coupled with the use of several apps called uStream and Qik and found that this technology is fantastic, simple but produces crude video. We also have a lot of problem getting the chat function of both programs to be dependable. uStream requires an account and while Qik doesn't it is very finicky. We determined that the best thing to do would be to use a dedicated web cam and our own chat client already integrated into our forum data base. This would allow the maximum stream of video and chat to be only viewable by registered members of the forum.
