My purple monster montipora digitata was purchased at MACNA last year in Houston. It was a very nice large piece that was encrusted over a rock about the size of your palm. I assumed that it was an encrusting type of montipora. The coral did not do well over the past 7 months in the clam tank and was slowly eroding away. Last months on the advice of several members I lowered my halide and started using Phosban. Well, the encrusting montipora started plating. Since I am a huge fan of all things montipora I was very excited. It will be interesting to see how it does as it continues its outward growth.
Look at the leading edge on that thing. It looks like the orange cap I have with the 1/8" growth ring
