What causes the whiteness on the arm of this acro.  Its almost like it is stringy sometimes with white stuff coming out. The peice itself seems to be fine though. I thought it was just a damaged spot but it stays... It doesnt grow.... Its jus there as a blimmish that I wish wasnt there.  Its not noticable really to anyone else but it bothers me.

It looks like a growth tip to me.

How long has it been that way?

If you will look right above the tip though you will see the nodes where the acro has no polyps... They seem to excrete a mucus.... It has been that way since I brought it home months ago. It doesnt seem to bother the thing and it has grown quite a bit... You can also see the line coming out of one of the polyps right where the new arm starts...

Look for spaghetti worms.  It looks like one is hanging off of the arm.

They can irritate SPS pretty bad some times. See if you see a hard tube somewhere around there.

has it gotten any bigger or spared down the coral or is it growing out white like that? It has polyp's on it so your right it is alive. Thats weird......not the coral............but that you are as anal as me LOL. [IMG]

Its always had a small blimmish there... It hasnt gotten any bigger. I dont want it too though either. Its just a spot where there is no color.

I know spaghetti worms... I really dont think thats what it is although I cant be for sure. Most of the time I have seen those they have been in the sand or rock.. This is part of the coral and the slime/tenticle comes out of a polyp hole... I dont know...

Anyone else ever seen anything like this where a speghetti worm comes out of an acro??

I have a couple of coral that do this at feeding time. My foxface just loves the stuff eats it right up and the next day there back again. Not sure what is causing it to do this.

I might suggest clipping it off. The coral looks very healthy and will recover the cut very quickly. If it is a pest you have solved your problem before it spreads. If not, you have allowed the coral to recover and continue to grow.
