What is a good quiet submersed pump? I have a danner 9.5 works good but is noisey. It is pumbed with pvc all the wsy to the tank. Is there a better way to hook it up that might be quieter. Was quiet at first.

Generally hard plumbed pumps are going to be noisier than flexible plumbing, unless you are EXTREMELY meticulous about how your cut and fit your piping.

Typically, I will install a union ball valve on the pump, and then connect a hose barb to the other side. This way you can use flexible pipe and control the amount of flow going to your tank. Also, with the danners, sometimes they get a cracked shaft in the impeller or possibly a fouled up housing. Almost every part on the mag pumps are replaceable though, and it typically doesn't cost that much.

Another suggestion is to pull the pump out, run a couple beads of silicone on the bottom of it, let it cure and then set it back in your tank. This will provide a little bit of noise dampening as well.

I am going to try flex pipe just having trouble finding hose barbs local. Good idea about silicone, had it sitting on some filter pad but vibrated off.

If you want a really quiet and controllable 6 speed pump the speedwave dc pumps are almost dead quiet with no heat or vibration. I just installed them on my 4 sumps and they work great. You can control how much flow you have going to the display. They also ramp up on start for a very slow even build up of flow. I think they are worth a look if you are looking for a good pump. They come in different gph models so should be able to match your needs.
