Skimmer function

    This is what my collection cup looks like after 4 days. No livestock except for a small clean up crew (5 Turbo's, 2 Trochus, 8 Nerites, 3 Haloween hermits). Is this good or bad. I would not have thought there would be much to skim. Diatom bloom has peaked and is decreasing. Hair algae is starting on the dry rock (came on the live rock)

    Parameters: Temp 78.8, pH 8.1, SG 1.026, dKh 9.3, Calcium 410, Magnesium 1350, NH3 zero, NO2 zero, NO3 5.

    That's a sign of a good skimmer. Probably gunk from your the live rock that you have.
