It's either they do or they don't. I think they like softies and lps best tho.

I have kept peppermints with skunk cleaner and blood shrimp at the same time and the peppermints were shy and subordinate to the others. Shouldn't be a problem with the other shrimp. As to the corals, mine never touched any corals but they also didn't eat the aiptasia I wanted them to eat.

I have had them rip up a Stylophora, Fungia, Acan, and GSP. Most of them are reef safe but occasionally you get one that goes rogue.

One of the things to watch for as well as there are several speceis in the "peppermint" shrimp family and some places sell them interchangeably. Some of those are much less likely to eat aiptasia and much more likely to eat coral!

I see. I got one a while back. Haven't had her too long but the couple of small aiptasias that had popped up were gone after a day! I haven't noticed any corals looking like they are being munched on so far. She has found a little hidey hole under one of my rocks and spends most of the day upside down with whiskers sticking out ...

I hope she gets along with the other shrimp once I get the new tank!

What Doc is talking about is Peppermint Shrimp and Camel Shrimp. Camels are definitely coral eaters but they are easy to differentiate when Camels and Peppermints are both available. He is correct though, some stores will sell them as Peppermints. When a Peppermint goes rogue, they aren't eating coral. They are just tearing it apart. They are normally the bigger ones too. I haven't had a little one do it.

There will be no doubt in your mind if it goes rogue. It won't do a little damage, it will do significant damage.

Yeah I'd read to get a specific one. I snapped a pic and asked Vanessa if they had it. I assume that's what I got. Hoping anyway!

If you asked Vanessa for a true Peppermint shrimp, she got you a true Peppermint shrimp.
