This is an often asked question on aquarium forums but I'm wondering if anyone has any tricks to remove a Four-Stripe Damsel from a tank without dismantling everything? This fish constantly harasses all the other fish and I believe is the reason my Flame Hawkfish and Lawnmower Blenny both committed suicide by jumping out of the tank. (They found the slim opening at the back of the tank beyond my cover.) Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
This little SOB will bite your hand but he disappears as soon as a net enters the water. It would be cool to use him as a snack for something.
ROFL The easiest way I've found to remove a fish is to start hand feeding it, then having my husband scoop it up in the net. It takes a few day's before trying the net. I don't tear my tank up that way. Generally the fish will dart to the same hole so you'll know which way he's going to go to scoop him up. It may take a few tries but I always get my fish
My wife and I are planning on building in the next year and the fish room that I am planning will have a tank specially dedicated to Damsel. They are so pretty and yet so cruel. I have not had one since I first set up my tank after having to remove most of the rock to get him out. He was attacking every fish that I added and I had had enough. That is the last damsel that has seen the inside of the Schiller Street Reef.
I have a glass fish trap if you would be interested in using it. very simple and should get them out without moving any rock
Have you had personal success with the fish trap? How do you get the little bugger to enter the trap? Food? Riches? Promise of virgins in the afterlife?
