Looking to add a new coral to the tank. I have looked through a couple of my favorite websites and think I would like to have a dedro or a duncan, or possibly a sun coral. Sun coral, duncans, and dendro's all of these seem similar but different. From what I have read they are relatively hardy and don't require massive amounts of light. They do require "spot feedings". Before I attempt to get one have any of you had any experience with these coral. I am really interested in the duncan or dendro. But any and all info is welcome. Also if anyone knows where I might be able to find any of these locally that would also help.

I have never had any of the dendros but I have suncoral and duncans. They are not difficult but the both like to be fed. I usually feed mine brine shrimp, cut up salad shrimp, or even pellets when I am short on time about 3 times a week. Throw some coral frenzy in your tank if it isn't fully open and it open up within 15 minutes. You dont have to feed each individual polyps on the sun corals as long as their tissue is attached to one another. So for example if you have a rock with 3 small groupings on it, just make sure you feed polyps in each group. Your best bet to keep all the other livestock in the tank from eating its food is to take a 2 liter bottle, cut the top off and use the top portion of the bottle to cover the suncoral and you can just feed the coral through the open top with a turkey baster. I usually turn off my powerheads to prevent it from blowing over.

The biggest concern I would have is water quality. Sorry I haven't noticed the specifics on your tank or experience. Are you regular with your water changes and do you have a good skimmer because when you add that extra food for the coral it can affect your water chemistry. What I actually try to do to help overcome that is to feed the coral before I feed anything to the fish in the evenings that way they can eat the leftovers for the most part. Also if you purchase frozen shrimp in a gel base rinse it thouroughly that will help some as well.

I got mine at paradise pets in Benton. Mine has orange and black on it I got lucky. If he doesnt have one in stock ask if he can order one or NSA may be able to order you one.
