I got a new to me 90 gallon set up this Saturday from Doc. I'm very excited about it. I am taking pictures on the progression and I will keep you guys updated. Right now I am still trying to fill it up, making RODI with a on counter RODI set up with five 5 gallon jugs makes for a very long process. More to come.
To be determined at this time. It is going to be a fish only for a couple months because we are going to be replacing our carpet with wood in the spring and I don't want to have to tear down an established reef if I can avoid it. We will have to move the tank for a couple days and then move it back. After the floors it will be aquascaped and stocked. All that being said I have plenty of time to do my research and design a stock list and aquascape design. Anyone got any suggestions on either or both. I would love to hear your ideas.
I think if I was to start my tank from scratch I would create a marine biotope aquarium. You don't see too many and it limits livestock choices but I have seen some really gorgeous examples and they always stand out.
Looks good Cameron! With a tank that size you could go a lot of different ways. For fish...you could have a zebrasoma or a bristle tooth tang, one of the genicanthus angels, several anthias.....and of course wrasses. You could have a lot of wrasses! Anxious to see what you can do with the aquascape. I've been too impatient with my current setup to really do it well. If I get to do my dream tank I'm going to study those threads on aquascaping and take the time to do it right.
I've always been too impulsive to do and definitely have a mixed reef but I love the looks of the biotopes. Future Reef Goals!
I would love to do a Caribbean biotope because most of my diving has been there. The only thing is there is very little SPS there and none of it's available for sale that I've seen. But, the gorgonians and sea fans are really cool. A Hawaiin biotope would be awesome. Cool fish and coral!
Well the tank has been moved to my dining room so that I can get my floors done this week. It will be moved back to its permanent location next weekend and then I can finish with the aquascaping and begin to stock it finally! Right now all I have in it is a couple pieces of liverock and a diamond gobie that I've had for about a month. Oh and a few frags of course.
It is back in the living room where it will stay. Very excited! Now I can start aquascapeing and working on the stock list. I'm currently researching and learning as much as I can about properly setting up a quarantine tank.
I thought you were taking out carpet and putting in wood?! How do you deal with the water around the carpet?! I'm too clumsy that it would never work for me! Thankfully we have tile!
We were going with wood, but we changed out minds kinda last minute. As far as the water spills. I just have to be very careful. I'm usually pretty good about it, but anything can happen.
