Haha, last night I was thinking if my predator tank crashes I would just get one massive moray like a favagineus, or a funeris throw in some damsels and leave it at that.
so I was working on my rock scape and it was going great and then it hit me... designers block argh... I have no idea where to go from there.
One little trick and the only tip I ever even tell a person is this... Make sure you have Egg crate on the bottom of a glass bottom tank then, it's all about the points down. Start with your largest pieces and look them over. Find the pointed ends and stab them in. Try to find the sides that lock together and start forming so called columns, after you have these, take your next size down and find the caps for these. You will find quickly that you will make nice arches and caves easily this way. Once you have this done take the smaller pieces and use them for filling out and making the whole thing look as though it's natural. Using the smaller ones to shape the front "visible" area to make the athetics will work to your advantage. Also, you never know when you hit a roadblock like your having... Buying that ONE piece at the LFS could make all the difference. Could find one large pretty show rock and build around that. Aqua scaping is an art form. Ya just can't get in a hurry and it's best to lay it all out on the floor and play on the floor first then put it in the tank.
Thanks mann, I've been slowly working on it for about three weeks now. I feel I have used all the"cool" piecies so I might need a rock fix to get the rest of it going again.
God, after re-reading that .... Can you tell I had just rolled out of bed?  Anyways, I think ya got my point. LOL  Good luck! (I dread any part of aquascaping unless I have at least twice as much rock as I need)
Haha gotta agree. Having too much rock made aquascaping SO much easier when we did ours. We were able to get it exactly how we wanted it with not a lot of fuss and no epoxy. Also, we did egg crate in the bottom of ours too in case we ever wanted a sand sifting goby it'd keep the rock from shifting.
Just did the easiest 50 gallon water change of my life!!! Just need to figure out how to make draining easier and water changes and work will no longer be synonymous!
So I decided to take a study break and work on the rock scape while watching a movie, it turns out when you watch a really funny movie you don't pay that much attention to what your doing...  None of the rocks look natural at all, kind of forced/slapped together. Will give it another shot after finals are over this week... I also believe I received a request for some pics of my big evil demons. I took a few shots of some of my bigger predators, didn't get a pic of the V-tail though. I also have lots of smaller predators either in my refugium or in my office.
Dude you could just start adding some gorgonias and set this tank off litterally.... I I dont think you have anything in there that would bother them do ya?
The chocolate chips, but they are going away as soon as I figure out where they are going. We have a yellow gorgonian at the store that we have had for about a year now that I've been wanting to buy.
So now that I officially have my new job I've been able to calm down a bit and relax. Which means I get to do fun things like play with my tank!!! My eel knocked over most of my rock structure a while back so I decided to take tonight off and re-do everything.
Automatic feeder finally installed so I don't have to feed my sponges by hand 4-5 times a day. Yay!!! Also Danner finally got around to sending me a new pump so I don't have a over-turn issue anymore!
I have finally come to the realization that my tank needs a filter sock, but unlike a normal person who goes out and picks one up I decided to make it myself out. Not to bad considering it took me about an hour and was made out of scrap acrylic I had laying around. (bulk heads are just there for measurement purposes I wont be using those exact ones)
