Well the time has come to start posting pictures of our new tank set up. I am starting this thread so I don't derail Jamie's stand and canopy thread in the DIY forum. Jamie has been very instrumental in the development of this set up ( He remodeled my stand and he and his brother laid the tile down in the fish room). Both job have turned out excellent. If any of you are looking for a custom stand I highly recommend Jamie's mad skills in wood working!! Tile work too if you live in our area. I am going to use photobucket also for the pics. Sorry. stand without doors (waiting to be built) Link to 6mmedics DIY thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2626 Marc and David stop by after work to lend a hand moving tank to the stand: 10/28/2009 There were others there too, but Cindy did not get mug shots of everyone (sorry).
And now the one part of the system I am not crazy about. I am sure Jamie is not either as it is close to the cabinet. I had a dilema on how to hide the pipes from the tank to the garage to tie it into the main sump system. I may change it later, but I really wanted to get the tank going. The original plan was to put a frag tank similar to Norman and Blake's on top of the counter area. Any way here are some shots, not completly done here yet though. This for the moment will actually let me reclaim a closet that is used entirely for fish stuff. I can move it below the cabinets. 11/14/2009
I plumbed the system in over Thansgiving weekend, and did not take alot of plumbing photos except for under the tank. I will post more and I had to do some stuff in the gargage also, but have not snapped pics yet. These are the drain and the return lines. 11/28 and 11/29/2009
Unfortunately I did not take pictures of the water level increasing each day. You have been saved. I added sand on 12/2/2009, and that brings us to todays pictures on 12/3/2009. I am going to add some more rock, but not fill it up so I can move my large fish over to the new 215 and they will have room to swim (right John?) For the record I only added 140 pounds of live sand, and believe it or not there is water in the tank. Clear isn't it!! Especially since adding sand yesterday.
Looking good Ralph, and I'm sure the big guys are going to love it. Now all we have to do is keep you from buying new corals everytime you see one so they continue to have room.
Ralph great start - thanks for starting the tank thread & sharing so we can all follow along !!! Wow it is supper clear, I had to look twice to see the water ripples Your Liverock looks nice too, nice ! Keep posting pics every step of the way & with every new addition, love seeing it progress !!!
I installed the Deltec skimmer I picked up used from a friend of mine last night. I am also currently cleaning my Deltec 902 that willbe reinstalled tonight or tomorrow. Please excuse the mess, as I have not tidied up the wires or loose pvc laying around. It did skim a decent amount of skimmate overnight though. I have also moved my Unicorn tang and Blonde Naso to the new 215 as of 1 am this morning. Pictures of them will come later today.
The guy I got it from had it on a 700-800 gallon system. I am not even sure about the model number. I need to research it some.
One impressive skimmer... I think it might be the 1003 model (three pumps) Capacity: Normal Stocking: 1330g Heavy Stocking: 930g http://www.deltecusa.us/proteinskimmers/ap1003.php the 902 (has two pumps) http://www.deltecusa.us/proteinskimmers/ap902.php
Nano this skimmer has 4 pumps. Three in front and one in the back side. Look at the orange valves between the cup, they are the air inlets. I have a 902 also it does have two pumps. I am very impressed with the amount of skimmate the new skimmer has pulled out since last night. Here it is: http://theaquariumsolution.com/deltec-ap1004-skimmer
Wow! two clean skimmers at once, amazing how they skim when clean. Looking great!!! The big guys are going to love the room.
I will take more pics tomorrow of the 2nd skimmer CLEAN, working and in its new sitting place. Here are some fish shots I took this morning.
