The first Idea was a completely different structure but after finding that others tackled the hight and the stand by framing it like a house I knew it would be a lot more sturdy.
The frame is 2x6's and the top rafters are 2x8's  I cut the doors from an 80" bifold and made two out of it.. I still have the task of covering it with sheetrock and sealing it up as best as possible but I am very happy with the way this turned out.

I have been messing with the design of the equipment room and this is what I have come up with so far.  It uses my 75 as a refugium/catchall and my 40 breeder for the sump/skimmer area. The layout also allows me to place reactors to the side and my pump too along with enough room for a second pump if I ever were to add one.  There is a shelf up top for all the dry goods and chemicals that I use too.

Tell me what you think and if you see a way to improve....

The only thing I can see is you may want to add a exhaust fan so you do not have a problem with moisture inside the stand.

I think you're plumbing is backward from the way I would do it. I would have the overflow from the tank into the sump (with filter socks) then to the skimmer, then back to the display. I would have the refugium plumbed separately to pump from the sump (with a small pump), flow through the refugium and then gravity overflow back to the section of the sump being pumped back to the display. The flow requirements for a refug is much less than the sump. Thats the way I have mine and most that I've seen. I also have all media reactors plumbed into the sump.

Its less of a fuge and more of a catch all and water volume container...  I have my other plummed the way you are talking. The tubes into the fuge will not have any filter or anything. There will be a wall however that directs the water flow back to the top... the middle will not see much flow from the spill even though there will be the whole volume of water moving through it.  The over flows at the other end however will be on a filter sock as they fall into the skimmer compartment before flowing out in a clean area for the return pump to pick it back up...

I really want to limit the amount of pumps used and the amount of electrical devices that are in this set up. I may devert one of the overflows down to the fuge chamber and then bring the other strait into the skimmer compartment if I see that they are going to be a problem.

I also have a 20 long I was thinking of working in this thing somehow.  Remember... these are just ideas and nothing that I sketch or anything like that will be set in stone... I can promise you .. they will change... LOL

The way that you have the drawing at the moment. The drains will create alot of splashing due to the air and water mix coming out of two drains you will probably have water all over the inside of the stand after a few weeks. I think you should use filter socks to catch the water coming out of the display first with a filter sock holder. I have my refuge like that on my frag tank and I have to keep a cover over it just to contain all the splashing water from getting everywhere. Thats just my thoughts.

Okay... so.. Being stuck at the house in the snow will do things to people.   I got a lil creative.  I just wanted a better Idea than just a square drawn on the wall....

fantastic! lol that will fill the blank space in the wall very well until you get the real thing!

now just hope you didn't accidentally get outside the cutout for the tank....

It may not look like much but but after cleaning out the garage some more I added the shelf in the inside, made the supports for the "floor" in the inside, and built a landing on the side.  I changed up the plan a lil again as I have many times so far.  I plan on putting steps up to this landing and then placeing my door there. I am thinking of keeping my top off water and maybe a quaratine tank up there. Also there will be a step more up to the top platform to access the tank.

I also have been thinking of adding a tub under the landing with no light or anything but plumbed into the system and putting LR in it over time. A sort of dead zone but one that willl add more water and more filtration.  This is just a thought though, I would have to see if it would even work or it would be a bad thing. Possibly a 50 gallon rubber made, the low wide ones. I keep wanting to add more water to this thing in some way along with more live rock unseen behind the scenes. I am getting up in the 350 gallon range if you dont count the live rock displacement. Another 50 gallons to get close to 400 would be awesome in my opinion. What do yall think?

It looks to me like you got this under control. Good job should be a sight to see when finished.

I wish we could get this tank to you sooner man, I showed my boss this thread earlier today so she could be a little more aware of all that was going on since she was the one talking to the builder before I took the phone and email away from here.  Can't wait till this thing is up and running!

Sam, you are more than welcome to come by if you are out my way or want to get out of the house for an evening.

Will, there is still a LOT of work that I need to do before I am ready for a tank. Noone wants it up on the stand more than I do but in a way its better its not. I stilll have the drywall joints to finish and the inside of the cabinet to finish along with the light fixture to tackle.  (which I have an awesome idea for, you wont want to miss it). I didnt think it would be so much. Its coming along but I am sure by the time the tank gets here it will be like putting the frosting on the cake.

I still am planniing on having a get together when the tank comes in.  Might grill some burgers and hot dogs and stuff. I asked Janan if she could get me a better time frame than first of march of when the tank will be here but havent heard anything.
