I think speed up there was talking about his overflows in his tank flushing.... He needs to put a small hole in his dorso to stop that... As far as the 75 over flowing, yes.... It dumps into the sump and I took the orange els off and but on 45s with pipe going under the water.. they are silent.. Only thing on mine that makes noise is the skimmer, pump, and the water trickle from the overflows up top. Nothing loud though... Inside the house its so quite you have to put your ear to the wall to even hear the pump.

Are you going to have folding doors on the top for better access to the tank?  Just a thought.

I dont guess I get what you are saying.... There will be no access to the tank inside the house at all if that is what you were meaning... On the otherhand you can walk all the way around it and get in it easily from the garage side inside the tank room....

Thanks!... We love it.. Its more than I ever thought I would have when I first started this hobby (with my hand-me-down 30 long, plenum bed, HOB skimmer and PC lights)  but it is something I have dreamed of for many many years and now that I have it I am still in awe of it myself.

After all that mess that went on.... LOL   Nah... I will get one some wheres else.  I am still on the look out though but I have to get this tank stable... It will take a 6 months or more for it to come to life and start really going.  The PH still swings like crazy and the salinity is slowly dropping... I cant quite put my finger on the exact reson but, There are some things to work out before I start adding things to it that I know wont mind the new tank type problems... So far everything else is comming along and getting used to it though... It looks better and better with each passing day.

    Reefman,
You did a fabulous job on the whole build.  I've been following it since the beginning.  You have a system some of us only dream of (don't own my home...).  If and when we do buy it I have great plans for a 250+ gallon system.  My living room is adjacent to my two car garage which we don't even park in. Back on subject.....you did a fantastic job and congratulations to you on such a beautiful and well thought out setup.

Thanks Jason,  I really enjoyed sharing the whole build with everyone on here and I look forward to sharing the rest of the tanks life with the club as a whole.

Took a quick Video of the tank.... Figured I would post it.  I plan on taking some good shots with the good camera later so I should have some more to add.
I walled up the outer area of the room also in the garage. I am planning on putting in the ductwork this weekend and a small 80 BTU bathroom fan I picked up to vent the humidity outside.  Till then. Enjoy!

  18. great job looks awsome!!!  So did you end up going with the window shaker for temperature control, or just the central unit of your house piped in? Also with air going into the room do you have air coming out? My only worry for the window shaker is that it will remove ALOT of humidity, maybe causing you to need frequent water adding, and then possibly the salty air affecting the aluminum coils, salt is highly corosive on aluminum. You shouldn't however need worry about  deterioration affecting the copper inside the aluminum letting freon into the air, copper corodes less.  I'm a 4 year refrigeration tech...

Thanks for the complement... I have both actually, House duct and the portable A/c unit that is in there. I also have a bathroom fan that sucks out air at the ceiling level as well as a box fan behind a return grill under the steps to draw air out in bulk if needed. Its not been real hot yet so I havent really needed the portable unit running. The duct from the house comes our right on the end of the big lights and is blow accross them with a fan. I figure in the days to come though I will be turning it on more. Its primarily a back up on really hot days. As long as I can keep it around 76-77 in the room the water doesnt heat up past 80.

  20. sounds pretty good if not over kill lol, I assume your lights already have fans on them. You don't want to over work those big heaters because they consume alot of energy.  I'm new to the reef aquaria, but i'm a veteran at temperature control. Also you might want to filter the air that's possibly returning into the house, to catch particulate salt, you don't want that in expencive electronics like the ps3, or other fan cooled devices. You also wanna keep the household a/c filtered and keep up with it you don't wanna be blowing dust into the aquarium... It really does look awsome!!!, i'm gonna be building a tank or two myself as soon as i feel confident in keeping the little tank and learning odds and ends. I aquired some 1/2 inch thick large non tempered glass a while back for this and have been waiting patiently for the right time. My big tank will be 60" X 24" X 24"  voluming up to about 150 gallons and weighing in at around 1600 pounds with just water alone... It's gonna be fun...
